Yay! You will all create a website of your work, something that is VERY useful to know and learn! Every business these days need a website for information and many times my students have created websites for their family member's businesses from what they learned in class!
Before we begin, you are to create three folders on your desktop of your BEST work that you will use in your portfolio. One for landscape (top 8), one for portraits (top 8) and one for creative work (top 8- think of your name project, light painting, panorama, bubbles, toy story, selective color...). You may use photographs that you have done outside of class if you choose, including from your phone, camera or GoPro, as long as the quality is top notch. The web portfolio can be changed and updated with new photographs as the year goes on!
In addition to the portfolio, you will have a blog page where you will post assignments, reflections, and explanations of the photo shoots and editing process.
You will create a FREE account in Weebly and choose your template from the ones they offer.
Username: personal email (not your school email as this will be yours for years to come)
Password: birthday (8 digit MMDDYYYY)
Choose a FREE subdomain in Weebly
Choose a name that is professional that you can use for years to come- i.e. first and last name Or last name and photography (i.e. moncurephoto.com)
Once you are done with making a site address and publishing it, put your web address, email you used and password here.
Here is the website that you will be using as a template for your photography website, detailing what photographs to use and how to set them up on your page.

As you work, have your weebly editing site and your published site up on your desktop so you can go back and forth between them and see how your changes affected the published site.
Here is a series of articles from Weebly on building your own site.

Here is a great student portfolio example from Letrina Keila
Do NOT use their stock photographs for your website, only use your own! Choose "upload" instead of "choose" photography for your header, etc.
PLEASE NOTE: Your username must be your PERSONAL email address- I recommend a gmail account. Create one if you don't have one already, it only takes two minutes!
NOTE: Your password should be your 8 digit birthday, not your password that you use for everything! It is always good to not have the same password for everything online anyway to prevent hackers from getting into all your stuff!
NOTE: Weebly website addresses start with a http:// not a www. and end with a .weebly.com
NOTE: Photographs that are over 10 mb size will not load onto Weebly- downsize them in Photoshop by going image- image size- and adjust it accordingly to get it less then 10 MB.
NOTE: Weebly will not upload photographs that are .PSD, only .JPEG
NOTE: Weebly will keep asking you to upgrade your account for $. Just say no and stay with the free site!
