You will be uploading your images onto your blog as a new post titled “Shutter Speed Exercise.” Have your best photo of the 1/3, 1/30, 1/60th, 1/250 and 1/1000 on there, making sure your main subject is in focus. Do not use photos with you in them, they should be the ones that you took! In your caption you will be stating what the shutter speed, aperture and ISO is, and answering the following questions underneath the images:

http://euphoricvisions.weebly.com Period 6 Rodrigo Zamora www.rodrigozamora.weebly.com You will be shooting a series of photographs of your toys to tell a story. Make sure they are interacting in some way and not just a one-toy sort of thing (which will just look like it’s something that you’re trying to sell on ebay).
You will be creating a story, meaning you will do a series of FOUR to SIX photographs, one with a beginning, middle, climax and end. They will all relate to each other in some way. Make sure it’s not the same photo with three different angles, move the toys around! It's okay if there are more then six photographs, just make sure it relates to the story and aren't replicating any frames. Vary your angles, get closer, get further away, take horizontal then vertical and even tilted photographs. Have your camera as Aperture Priority- the front right dial changes the aperture. For each photograph, start with an aperture f/1.8 and then take it again where you change it to f/8 then f/16. Make sure I can’t recognize where the toys are set up- I don’t want to see it quickly identified as the table top in the quad. Take 24+ photographs of your toys. Again, make sure that you’ve got different setups, and that you have a variety of apertures (f/1.8, f/8 and f/16) since some may look better as deep focus and some might look good as shallow focus. Save your album as 10-20-2015 Toy Story Do any editing of your work in iPhoto and save as lastname-firstname-toystory1.jpg, 2, 3, 4... Upload your four-six (or more!) images onto your website and write a fun children's story that is at least FOUR paragraphs long that relates to your FOUR- SIX photographs- each paragraph will be under the photograph. Make sure the first photograph for the story goes on top, and the ending of the story is at the bottom. Website directions- it should be on your first page where you put all the classroom projects/ notes. 1. Drag the element of TITLE down (or "new post") and title it your story's title 2. Drag the element of IMAGE down (as large as possible) and drag the first image of your story into the spot. 3. CAPTION the image by clicking on it and getting the drop down menu. Put in the TITLE of the picture and the camera information including the aperture, shutter speed and ISO. 4. Once you've done the photo and caption, drag the element of TEXT underneath the photo (making sure the photo is as large as possible) and write your story underneath each image. http://moncurestudent.weebly.com Student example Chris McIver You'll be presenting your photos and your story to the class. Upload your three images that you took of the same still life, at f/1.8, f/8 and f/16. In the caption for each photograph, put what the f/stop, shutter speed and ISO was (you can find it under "info" in iPhoto). Underneath the three photos DESCRIBE what you saw, how the photos came out differently, and what the different apertures do. Also include the notes that you took on the Aperture basics lecture that you saw at the start of class. Remember, this is your visual dictionary that you will refer to throughout the year and will help you tremendously understand what aperture is and what it means!
Take notes for your blog- you may do it in your notebook or in Google Docs or straight on your blog- on the presentation for Digital Camera Basics.
Afterwards, go here to try out your hand on Camera Settings! After watching the video on photo history and Camera Obscuras, write a summary on your blog about what a Camera Obscura is, using images from the web and a description IN YOUR OWN WORDS about what it does and how it started the world of photography. Include what is involved in making a camera obscura.
