Student work from the 2016- 2017 school year
Carolina Alvarez R., Class of 2017, Raindrop
I chose this name because the rain had gone away and the water would drip off the building. The water was coming out of a pipe and would drip on the ground into a puddle. To make this photo I made sure to take the picture at the right moment then in photoshop I changed it to black and white the adjusted the contrast. I like it because it captures the water as it falls into the puddle but I do think I could’ve made it more clear and defined. As an artist I think i’m good but there’s room for improvement especially in photography. I’ve only learned how to use a camera properly and how to find the right the right lighting.

Jerico Baguiao, Class of 2017, King Fresh
This photograph is of a good friend of mine. I titled it King Fresh because everyone calls him by his nickname and it's unique. We go way back. I took this photograph when we were learning about fast shutter speeds in class. I like this picture because it kind of represents King Fresh being baptized. The timing was perfect. My artistry and focus has gotten better as the year has gone on.

Ryan Baldoni, Class of 2017, Down by the Little Old Creek
I named this photo Down by the Little old Creek because I took the photo when I was by a small creek. The picture is of an old bench at the Duck Pond, with the bench being right in front of a little creek that is just out of view from the photo. The photo is actually an HDR photo that I created by taking five shots of the photo at different exposures and then using the HDR option in photoshop to merge all five photos. This has always been my favorite photo since I took it, what makes it so successful can be attributed to the great amount of saturation and vivid coloring of nature. As an artist, I would myself as a landscape photographer that tries to bring out the very best of a mediocre scene at best. Without HDR, the photo that I chose would look extremely dark and not very notable. However, with the use of HDR, any scene could become a beautiful artistic creation.

Jaleel Bell, Deception
My picture is an HDR photograph of a butterfly being coupled by the hands of a young man. I titled this piece “deception” because the butterfly in the picture looks like it is still healthy and alive but in reality, it is on the verge of death. Just like how from the outside looking in America looks like it’s the best country in the world, but in reality it have so many flaws in fact making it theory on the “verge of death.” To edit such a picture I made sure to make the butterfly stand out with exquisite coloring with the temperature tool and exposure. After that, I simply turned the brightness up a little and that ended the greatness of the picture known as “deception.”

Abraham Benavides, Class of 2018, Hard Work
The reason why I called this picture "Hard Work" is because the sport of soccer is really exhausting and it takes a lot of dedication and hard work. In this picture it is Alexis Palma’s soccer cleat. It was taken during his soccer practice. What I did to take this picture was to lay down on the turf and made it so that the focus was on the words “Palma”. The reason why I like it is because its so clean and the focus is so crisp.

Olivia Benchetrit, Class of 2018, Koi Pond
I named this photo late afternoon sun in the koi pond. The picture is of the koi pond at the self realization gardens in Encinitas. I brightened this photo just a bit because it was a little dark and it was hard to see the details of the fish and the plants all around. I really like this photo because of the way the light reflects off the water and some of the trees and plants reflect in the water. I would describe myself as an artist who is always trying to take a photo that will require the least amount of editing. I look forward to learning more about how to set up the perfect shot to get a spectacular photo.

Chloe Biggs, Class of 2018, Sunrise at the Grand Canyon
I named this photo Sunrise at the Grand Canyon because took it just when the sun rose over the north ridge of the Grand Canyon. This is a picture of North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I went to the Grand Canyon over Thanksgiving break. I was in the middle of going on a road trip across half the country. We decided to stop at the Grand Canyon because it was on the way and it was the first time that I ever went. I didn’t have to use any Photoshop or any editing for this photo. I really like this photo because of the way that the sunlight is hitting the rock. I also really like the color of the sky like the gradient of blue to yellow. I like the way that you can still see the rest of the Grand Canyon in the background but your eye focuses on the rock getting hit with sunlight. As an artist I really like to take photos of landscapes at either sunset or at sunrise because that’s when I think things are the prettiest. The thing that I like the most about those types of photos is the coloring of them. I’ve learned a lot about Photoshop from this class. I’m looking forward to doing more cool projects in the rest of the year.

Nakiya Bird, Class of 2018, The Surprise Water Balloon
I have named this photo “The Surprise Water Balloon” because of the expression on Enzo’s face and Kelsey’s. The picture is of Enzo and Kelsey, my classmates, when we were doing a project on stop action pictures. I did not edit this photo at all, it was just taken and I used it straight from that. I like this photo because it is in action and I love the expression on the people’s faces’. I believe I was successful by getting the photo just at the right time. I would describe myself as an adventure kind of photographer, I like taking photos that aren’t just things staying still or something that you could see while just driving through town. So far this year, I have learned how to make my photos have a focal point each time I take a photo. I am looking forward to learning more about Photoshop and how to use it better.

Enzo Borghetto, class of 2017, Tree of Life.
The title of this piece came from an inspiration from a close friend of mine so that’s why I named it the Tree of Life. It is a picture of a tree in the middle of the hallway at Rancho Buena Vista High School. First I took 5 pictures with 5 different exposures and then I combined all of them together in Photoshop. After that, I saturated the picture to give it the HDR effect. First I took 5 pictures with 5 different exposures and then I combined all of them together in Photoshop. After that, I saturated the picture to give it the HDR effect. I like it a lot because the HDR effect really makes the photograph stand out and the details an amazing glare. I’m creative and I like to think out of the box. I learned how to use Photoshop and I’m still learning many of its features. I look forward to mastering Photoshop because you can really do amazing things with it.

Anthony Buenrostro, Class of 2018, Sunshine
This is a picture of some tree and of the sun peeking over the hill. I named this photo “Sunshine” because it has the feeling of the morning sunrise and the sunshine is shining through the tree giving it a warm feeling. This was taken in Jalisco, Mexico around ten in the morning on the way to go see a waterfall. I made this Photo by using an app called VSCO to edit the photo and I made it darker in the shadows and a cooler/ morning feel to it. I like this photo because of how there is just one tree and the sun is shining above it and the people in the photo sort of feel like they are going on an adventure or something. I believe that this is a successful photo because it expresses a lot and it can have multiple meanings. Describing myself as an artist is difficult because I’m not a very creative person but when the creativity hits me I can make some pretty good photos. I have learned a lot this year, I learned how to use each setting on the camera for what its used for. I also learned about how to use Photoshop and that there are multiple ways to do anything. I looking forward to taking more photos and to become proficient in Photoshop.

Madelin Burdick, Class of 2017, Through the Rear Window
I have named my photograph “Through the Rear Window,” because the focus of the photo is directed to the window and seeing what is beyond the blue frame. This photo was taken at Leo Carrillo Ranch outside near the pool. The photo was taken of one of the walls from inside a small 3-sided building. I took this photograph using my phone, this is the original picture with no editing. I like this photo, because of how simple it is, yet appealing to the eye; the blue in the window frame draws your eye right to the window. I think this is a successful photograph, because the simplicity of it makes it beautiful and the photo doesn’t need any editing to make it appealing. As an artist, I would describe myself as someone who finds the simplicity in things. I don’t have an “eye for art” like most people in my class do, so I struggle a bit with being creative with my photographs. This year I have learned new techniques to make my photographs stand out and be different than my peers. I am looking forward to learning how to be more creative with what I decide to take photos of.

Lauren Butler, Class of 2017, The Castle on the Cloud
I titled the picture The Castle on the Cloud because the way that I shot the photo, it makes it seem as if the Salt Lake City Mormon temple in the background is on the clouds. The picture was taken in December of 2016 at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. I took it because around Christmas time there are a bunch of lights and it is so incredibly beautiful. It was very fun to take pictures of because I saw the view that I did when I took this photo. I actually didn’t edit this photo in any program. I just took it on my phone and I love the way it turned out. I like it because it captures the beauty and simplicity of the Salt Lake temple. I feel that I am the kind of photographer who is willing to photograph anything and everything. I don’t have a preference of what I photograph, I just love taking pictures. I’m excited to learn the rest of this year on expanding my range of photography.

Stephanie Cabrera Class of 2017, Muchacho De Campo
This picture is mostly based on my parents story, my dad a ‘Ranchero’ and my mom a city girl. The title is based on a song “Muchacho De Campo” by the popular group/band ‘Voz De Mando. In the song the main singer Jorge sings pues “mirame soy un muchacho de campo
The picture is of a city women, in a traditional Sinaloense dress looking down upon her love who is dressed as Sinaloenses would call a ranchero.

Jonathon Campos, Class of 2017, The Land Jack Pot.
This picture is a picture of a bunch of machines that give you money (gallery). I used my iPhone 6 to take this picture and this picture was taken at a gas station in Nevada on my way to Idaho. I love this picture because the lights really stand out to me and how decorative it was inside, but it was also my first time seeing one of those machines. I think this a successful picture because it came it out the way I wanted it to come out like very bright colors, a lot details, and it was in the middle of nowhere. I would like to describe myself as an artist like very detailed. I learned that you can get good pictures using anything. I am looking forward to learning more about taking pictures and what else can we use to make the pictures better.

Alexa Cannon, Class of 2017, Oceanside Harbor Boats
I have chosen to name my photograph Oceanside Harbor Boats because the focus in the picture is on the boats located at the Oceanside Harbor. I took the photo on my D3200 Nikon camera then chose not to add any editing with Photoshop. Personally I liked this photo because I felt it was different from any other photograph that I’ve taken this year and not something I would typically take a photo of. I think the photo is successful because it captures so much detail in the water, on the boats, and even little details on the rocks in the bottom right corner.
I am not exactly sure how to describe myself as a photographer. I think I’m still trying to figure out who I am in that way, but by the end of the year I am sure I will recognize what type of photographer I am. I think I have learned a lot this school year about things such as composition, which ISO to use, different styles of photography, and to take photos from different angles. I hope to learn and practice portrait photography this year because I am very interested in it, but am still not very good at it. I am also interested in working on more landscape photography cause I feel that it is one of my stronger type of photography that I can do, but obviously there are still improvements I can make.

Brian Canseco, Class of 2018, White Snow
My picture is named White Snow because it has snow almost everywhere and ¾ of the picture is just white. The picture is of a cabin out in the top of Big Bear covered in snow right in the center of the city. To make it look the way it does I edited the photo on Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 by adjusting the brightness to bring out the subject. I liked this photograph a lot because I feel like it is something that doesn’t come out to often such as the snow here in Vista, so it becomes something different for people to see. I would describe myself as an artist that takes pictures that connect with you in a deep way such as when you see a picture and you can relate to it. What I have learn this year is a lot of things mostly learning how to edit photos and how to bring the subject in the picture. I am looking forward to learn how to make photo a lot better and how to adjust them in Photoshop and Lightroom.

Nick Cesare, Class of 2017, Autumn Daydreams
I chose the title Autumn Daydreams because I pictured myself lying on the grass looking up at the tree lost in a daydream and being lost in the many leaves, nooks, and crannies of the tree above. I used iPhoto to adjust the lighting and saturation slightly as to emphasize the contrast between the blue sky and the orange leaves. I like this photo because it reminds me of my friendship with my best friend, Ryan, because this is one of the photos I took when he was showing me the ropes of photography.
In regards to artistry I see myself as someone who is seeking to portray the experience and interactions of the individual. To capture moments that all people can relate to whether it be laying on the grass looking up at the shimmering leaves, or watching a multitude birds flee as one approaches them. So far this year I have learned the inner working of a high tech camera such as how to adjust the shutter speed to capture moving objects, adjusting the aperture depending on how far away my subject is, and how to manipulate the brightness by adjusting the ISO sensitivity. I am looking forward to learning more about Photoshop in how to edit photos to my favor, and to reach my full photographing potential.

Dylan Cooksley, Class of 2017, Not All Heroes Wear Capes
My picture is a black and white photo of a chip, a penny, and a napkin. This photograph came from a silly story I created earlier this year. While looking at the picture it can be very confusing and odd, but the reason I chose this photograph was not because of the picture itself, it is because of the purpose of it. I titled this photograph “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” because in this part of the story, the Napkin saved the lives of his friends. What I did to create this photo was to go out on a partially cloudy day and set up the props and take five photographs at different apertures to get a variety to choose from.
Why I like this photograph is because it shows that just about anything can be turned into something artistic and creative. That is one of the beautiful things about photography. Everything you decide to photograph is up to you and everything can be interpreted in different ways. Some people may look at this photo and just see a torn napkin, a chip, and a penny. And some may look at it as a story, or a deeper meaning and a life lesson. The way someone looks at a photo is different dependent on the person, and that’s why I like this photo. It comes with a story.

James Corp, Class of 2018, Ripples In My Life
I named my picture this because taking pictures has changed my life, and how I want to make this hobby into a job. This picture of rain drops falling into a puddle and it created ripples in the puddle. The way I edited this picture is with iPhoto, I used contrast and a black and white filter. I like that this picture caught the right moment when the rain touches the water, and how the resolution on it is outstanding. The way I would describe myself as an artist is I look at things from a different perspective, I look at a tree and I try to get the sunlight rays through the branches and leafs.

Lucas Costa, Class of 2017, Water Falling.
I gave my photograph the title Water Falling because I was able to capture the water beginning to fall after Mrs. Moncure popped the balloon with a needle. I really like it because you can see all of the little water droplets and the expression on Marcos face as the water fell on him. As an artist I like taking pictures that look fun and interesting with no deep meaning. This year I’ve learned many new techniques to use on my camera that helps me take way better photos that I ever could before. I’m not sure exactly what else we are going to learn this year but I’m very excited to find out so I can improve my photography even more.

Sophie Crawford, Class of 2017, Peace
I used this title because the picture brings you the sense of the beach which is very calming and peaceful. With the waves crashing and the sun setting makes you feel at peace with the world. The picture is of the Oceanside beach pier at sun set. I took the picture to make it, I didn’t use Photoshop because the picture doesn’t need any editing. I like it because it captures the moment of a beautiful sun set. It’s a successful photograph because of the contrast in colors and the silhouette shows the beauty in the pier. I would describe myself as an artist as an adventure photographer. I have learned the ins and outs of a camera and I’ve learned that I love photography. I’m looking forward to learn more about Photoshop in this upcoming year.
I used this title because the picture brings you the sense of the beach which is very calming and peaceful. With the waves crashing and the sun setting makes you feel at peace with the world. Madison Cuppett, Class of 2017, Drip
I titled the image Drip because of the instinct sound that is thought of when first witnessing the photo. I wanted the image to speak for itself, and by naming the piece Drip, I was able to represent the underlying humming and noises that the water fountain contains. Showing sound to an image that makes no noise, I was able to take this image by setting the shutter speed to 1/1000 and getting as close to the water fountain as I could. I then took the image for a project named Elements of Art, in which I took the picture for the element texture. I wanted to show the texture of the water with as much detail as possible, but was also able to gain a portion of value in the image. I enjoy this picture the most due to capturing different physical senses, without the viewer standing by the water fountain in-real-time. I would describe myself as an artist willing to try different ways of photography and being diverse in the way I capture an image.

Jared Dowdy
Angel Estrada, Class of 2018, Restrooms
I chose the title Restrooms because of the restroom sign in the photo. This is a photo of the restrooms at Old Town, near the historic buildings. The only thing that was done to manipulate this photo was a dark, gray filter. I captured this photo on my cell phone at old town during a small trip with my family. I like this photo because it is very mysterious due to the contrast between the darkened areas and the highlighted areas. I think this photo is successful because it is simple and has a sense of a story behind it. It gives off a mysterious feel. I would describe myself as an artist in progress. Compared to my work in the beginning of the year, and before this year, I have grown as a photographer. During my time in photography, I have learned several things concerning editing, photographing, and setups. I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge on these things and much more as the rest of the year plays out.

Milo Fox, Class of 2017, Green Wave
I have titled this picture Green Wave because the wave in the picture is green. It is a picture of a wave breaking in La Jolla. I really like the colors that are in the picture. To make the picture look better in Photoshop, I increased the vibrancy and saturation. I like this picture because I went out thinking that I wasn’t going to get any good pictures, but ended up getting my favorite picture that I’ve ever taken.
I think that it is a successful picture because of the colors I captured, the shape of the wave, and the way you can see through a part of the wave, making it seem transparent. As an artist I see myself as a person who like to bring out color in my photos. This year I have learned so much about cameras, my favorite being learning how to use shutter speed to make my pictures look awesome. I look forward to learning how to do food photography.

Gabe French, Class of 2018, Year One
My picture is a photograph I took of a palm tree over by the parking lot as I’m facing the school. I titled it “Year One” because this is my first year at RBV high school and I like the scenery around the school. To make this picture, I lightened the picture in iPhoto and added some highlights to the sky. I have gotten better as an artist this year because I have learned how to use iPhoto and Photoshop to change my pictures to how I want them. I look forward to learning how to use the camera the best I possibly can.

Covin Gagnon, Class of 2017, Under One Sky
I titled this photograph Under One Sky because lately I’ve found myself looking at this sky and thinking “We are all humans under one sky and no matter where we go, we are all still beneath this sky.” This photo is of a large puddle in front of Rancho, reflecting the clouds in the sky. The photo remains the same and has not been altered- because of its’ natural beauty it does well as is. I like the simplicity of this photo and I think it’s a successful photograph because I have taken a lot of photos of the sky and puddle but never together and so I think that the way it looks and came out well and that’s why I think it’s successful. I could describe myself as an artist in many ways because I love to act, sing, make music, draw, and of course take photos. Well for the semester that I’ve returned to Rancho I believe I’ve learned a lot not only about photography and my five other classes but also myself but I still have much to learn even outside of school. I am looking forward to learning how to really use a good camera professionally and perhaps even making a career out of my many artistic abilities.

Natalee Garcia
Mason George, Class of 2017, A Typically Unique Beauty
I named this photos title A Typically Unique Beauty because there is so much more to a person than what is shown. This is a picture of a RBV alumni named Seila Katsuyama. A student who, at first glance, blends with all the rest walking down the halls. However, she is something much more. Take away all other students and she is a band kid. Take away the band kids and she is a Drum Corps nerd! No, not a military program, Drum Corps International is a bunch of college-aged students that burn their summer away on the football fields. While other kids slack off or go to some other part of the country or world for vacation, they do burn their summer away but only of their passion for what they do. Waking up at six in the morning to start warming up and having sectionals, group ensembles, and best of all physical training, these groups of college students work harder than one would expect. If there’s one thing I have learned from my high school English and photography career, is not to take things for face value. I look forwards to expanding my quality in photography, music, and other assorted skills. After too many years of essay writing I have noticed that I can always get better and more descriptive. After nine years of playing in concert band, jazz band, and marching band, I have learned that I can play so much more than I ever think I can. After posting 700 plus photos on my Instagram and my website, I have seen the evolution of my photos all of which I feel don’t look as good as I can make them even if I posted it just yesterday. I like to think I’ve learned a lot through my path as an artist. Especially that an amazing picture is worth a thousand words, but a masterpiece leaves you speechless; however I still haven’t found that piece yet.

Ari Gonzales, Class of 2017, A Bird’s Walden
My picture is an HDR photograph of a blue birdhouse at the duck pond. I titled this photo A Bird’s Walden because Walden is Henry David Thoreau’s reflection of when he lived in the woods. His text is the transcendentalist contemplation upon simple living in natural surroundings. My photo represents a bird’s Walden. To create this photo, I first had to secure the camera on a tripod because I needed 5 copies of the same photo. Since this was for the HDR project, each photo was taken with a different exposure, ranging from -1.0 to +1.0. After doing this, I opened the five photos in Photoshop to merge as one to create this photo full of color.
I like this photograph because as soon as I saw the birdhouse, I knew I could display the rule of thirds technique. Not only that, it was the first time I ever noticed the birdhouse-it stood out to me. I think it’s a successful photograph in that it achieves the rule of thirds and it has a unique pop of color. So far, I’ve learned a lot in photography class, especially with learning how to manipulate several tools on the camera. The class has increased my interest in photography, and now I find myself recognizing several aesthetic photo opportunities. Whether it’s with street photography, sunset photography, or even portraits, I’ve started to create a photographer’s mindset.

Niko Hadjis, Class of 2017, Shrek Swamp
I named my photo Shrek Swamp because it looks like a swamp and Shrek is my favorite Disney movie. It’s a picture of a small pond that I found at the duck pond. So we took pictures using different exposures at the duck pond and then we uploaded them to Photoshop and I made it more saturated and removed ghosts. I think it came out really pretty and colorful. I think it is successful because I like it and other people really like it. I’m really good at capturing beautiful pictures and being able to edit them and make it even better- that’s how I would describe myself as an artist. I’ve learned how to use Photoshop better and how to use a really good camera. I’m hoping that I will be able to use Photoshop more and take even better pictures this year.

Kipolo Harrington, Class of 2017, Can’t Wait To Graduate!
I titled my photograph Can’t Wait To Graduate because honestly that’s how I feel right now. I can’t wait to get out of here! This picture is of my partner in front of the school’s painting showing people graduating. I used Photoshop to edit my photograph. First I highlighted my partner and then I coped it. Then I just took the whole image and duplicated it. I then moved it little and put down the opacity. Finally I just pasted my partner back in. I really like my image because it represents something that we all are going to do. That something is that we are all going to graduate. I would describe myself as an emotional artist. There are a lot of reasons why I would describe myself as that, my explanation is clear when you take a look at my style. I would say that I’ve been improving as a photographer this year.

Andrea Heltsley, Class of 1018, Soft and Delicate
I named this photo Soft and Delicate because, that is the way the photo captures the rose. It shows off the soft lavender color and the petals look delicate to me. The picture is of a rose from my house, it was my Great Grandma's favorite color and flower. I wanted to take a picture of it as a type of remembrance of her. I went outside and put my phone directly over the rose so I could capture the rose with the sun shining right on it. I like this photograph because of the way the petals look. The sun perfectly brightens the color and shadows the middle petals well. I believe what makes this a successful photo is the quality of the rose that is shown. As an artist I would define myself as one who captures little things that make me calm or happy. I take pictures of little things or anything that gives me some type of emotional feeling, such as flowers, puddles, rain, or art spray painted or drawn onto a wall. Throughout these past few months I have learned how to take a photo at a perfect angle and also new ways to take different types of pictures such as action shots and HDR photos. I am looking forward to learning anything that will help me become a better photographer.

Angela Heltsley, Class of 2017, A Night at the Fair
This has to be one of the favorite pictures I have ever taken. I decided to name this picture A Night at the Fair because it captures the last of sunshine glowing on the fair, with a nice shade of darkness noticing the night changes. The picture is of the Del Mar fairgrounds that I went to this year. I took the photo off my cell phone just as the sunrise was about to end and the fair was being light up. I enjoy this picture so much because it was such a fun day with my family and the day was so beautiful. The lights and different colors have a beautiful effect on the photo. I enjoy taking pictures of beautiful landscapes, remembering the places I’ve been, especially when there is color and excitement. I’m looking to learn more about focusing on my pictures and finding ways to make my pictures show that excitement and color.

Jose Hernandez, Class of 2017, The Overseen Beauty
I titled this The Overseen Beauty because of the way that the picture looks and because the rainy day in general, also because people tend to overlook the beauty that might not look like beauty at first. This is a picture of the hallway by the career center, which I took at the time of the Rainy Day project. This picture required very little Photoshop, I just changed the colors. In editing the colors, I decided to make the photo dull in order to highlight the mood in the photo. This photo was supposed to have a dreary mood to it. The reason for the mood is because the picture was taken after the rain stopped and people are typically in a gloomy mood after or during a rain. I really like this picture because a lot of people tend to capture the sunrise/sunset, which are portrayed as a happy time of the day, however, this photo captures a different type of beauty that most people seem to oversee. What I want to achieve through this photo is that some days may be gloomy or sad but that shouldn’t stop anyone because there is always good in the bad, so people should not just focus on the negativity in their lives but also focus on what might seem like a bad and try to make the best of it. I would describe myself as a street/landscape artist because when I took this picture I had no intentions of going straight there and taking it, I just saw this scene and decided to take the picture with a little slant to it to add the effect that beauty should not be perfect. Also the main purpose of street art is that the picture should not be programmed and the photographer should just his camera ready and capture what he sees and what he likes, as I learned by researching Joel Meyerowitz.

Kenia Hernandez Martinez, Class of 2017, Sweets
I picked this picture because it’s one of my best pictures I’ve taken and I also like it because who doesn’t love food? I took this picture with a Nikon DSLR camera and I decided to title it “Sweets” because I love anything that’s sweet, this looks really good looking at it. I love taking pictures of random things that capture my eyes. I look forward to continue to learn how to make more amazing photos like this one here.

Kimberly Hernandez, Class of 2017, Nature
My picture is an HDR photograph of the tree branches at the duck pond with my friend looking straight at them. To make this picture, I took about 5 shots of this same photo and I picked the one I liked the best, then I opened this picture in Photoshop and then I just enhanced the brightness to how I thought it looked the best. I think it’s a successful photograph because it catches attention due to the colors like how the red pops out from the background. Which is a reason why I like this photograph. So far this year I have learned that it’s very important to know how to take pictures with adjusting the ISO, Aperture and shutter speed, with doing that it will make your pictures turn out so much better.

Salma Hernandez, Class 2017, Seal life
I named this photograph “Seal life ” because it sounds like sea life but it’s a picture of seals. This picture is at La Jolla Cove. I went during the sunset and all the seals were playing rough so I walked on and I noticed a little family cuddling and sleeping they looked so peaceful. I liked this picture because they look so cute and you can see the little baby seal peaking through. I took this on my iPhone on the snapchat app and I really like how it turned out. I learned to much this year in my photograph class like how to use Photoshop and the elements of photography.

Ruby Hizazaga, Class of 2018, Color in the Rain
I have titled this photograph “Color in the Rain” because whenever it rains for some reason it brings out the wonderful colors of the plants- in this photo it was vibrant green. This photo is a picture of wet ivy in between two staircases. After taking this photo it was actually too bright so I took it into photo shop to decrease the lighting and added some magenta hue to it to bring out the brown colors and texture. I also added saturation to bring in some warmth in the photo. I like this photo because it shows how nature can be so beautiful when it’s natural colors come out to show. I think it’s a successful picture because the main focus is on the vibrant leaves of ivy. I would describe myself as an independent artist. What I have learned this year is to create different varieties of photos such as over exposed, under exposed, texture, layer mask, and many more. I’m looking forward to learn on how to create photos with shapes and simplicity.

Clare Hoffman, Class of 2017, The Satellite
The title of my picture is called The Satellite, because the moon is often as the satellite of the universe surrounding us. The moon is the natural satellite of the Earth and reflects the light of the sun back to Earth in the night. It acts as a light for us when in dark. I took this photo on my camera and edited to the point in which I liked it. I used a black and white effect then I brightened it to make the moon more prominent. I like this image because it captures the true beauty and nature of the moon. I think it’s successful because it is very clear and one can see the outlines very well. I would describe my self as an artist who is growing and learning. I’m obviously not the best photographer, but I am growing. My pictures have come a lot way from when I first started. I can capture the true essence of a photo now, but I would like to get to the point in which can clearly elicit my meaning for the photo with one glance.

Micah Hogan
Taylor Honore, Class of 2017, Beauty in the Darkness
I called my photograph “Beauty in the Darkness” because the hue of the leaves gives off a dark mood, but I want to show that something dark can be beautiful. The picture is of leaves after the uncommon pouring in San Diego. The reason I see beauty in this is that I had done no editing to this photograph and it’s just naturally beautiful to me and very clear. I would describe myself as a beginner photographer. I’m very interested in photography, but I’m busy with other subjects and sports and don’t have enough time to practice taking pictures. Hopefully I have time to practice in the future.
I called my photograph “Beauty in the Darkness” because the hue of the leaves gives off a dark mood, but I want to show that something dark can be beautiful. The picture is of leaves after the uncommon pouring in San Diego. Jasmine Housman, Class of 2017, The Lonely Bench
I titled my picture “The Lonely Bench” because since it is raining no one is going to sit on the bench thus making it lonely. The bench is of a wooden bench in one of the quads while it was raining very hard and it was very windy. To make the photo look like how it is by using the Instagram app and using the filter Lo-Fi to enhance the color of the grass and make the shadows darker. I like that photograph because I love the rain and I like how you can see the rain through seeing the ripples in the puddle and it is slightly showing with the rain in front of the bench. This is a successful photo because it is a beautiful photo because it shows nature but also the man made construct but because of the rain they flow together.
I would describe myself as an artistic that likes to portray nature through only having it in the photo or it being the smallest but most important part of the photo. So far this year I have learned all the terms and reasons for the different numbers that go along with it. I am looking forward to learning how to take very good food photography.

Ashley Hurlbutt, Class of 2018, Skies and Music Notes
My picture is of the sunset and my choir class going to the football field to sing the national anthem. I titled it Skies and Music Notes because I captured two places that I go to escape and make me feel calm. I didn’t use any edits on it. I used my friends iPhone walking into the football field. I enjoy this photo because the sky seems so calming and it has my favorite thing to pass the time and distress myself. I think it’s a successful photo because I really captured the sky and my friends having a good time before we knock everyone’s socks off with our banging voices. If I could describe myself as an artist, I would say I’m a sunset and sunrise photographer. I just enjoy seeing the different colors in the sky and let the beauty sink in. What I have learned this year, are different settings of ISO and shutter speed can do wonders. I’m excited to learn about more about cameras and going out of my comfort zone and photographing things I would never picture myself photographing.

Cindy Jimenez Ramirez, Class of 2018, Reno, Nevada.
I decided to name my piece Reno, Nevada because it was my last day of my trip in Nevada. My family and I were on the road back to California and we decided we should stop by Lake Tahoe since it was on our way back home. I did not take it on any special camera or app it was taken on my iPhone camera. I like this photograph because you can see the reflection of the mountains and the clouds. The water looks so clear and it looks so peaceful. My opinion on why I think it is a successful photograph is because I got all the details. I would describe myself as an artist for trying to get the little details and this photograph reminds me of balance symmetrical. I learned this year that every photograph has a meaning and we should focus on the subject if there is a subject. In this case there wasn’t a subject it was just a background. I am looking forward to learning and reading photographs just by looking at them and taking my own great pictures.

Alondra Kash, Class of 2018, Siblings by Love not Blood
The title I have chosen for my photograph is, siblings by love not blood. I have given my picture this title because the photograph is of my brother who is not related to me by blood but just because the same blood doesn’t flow through our veins doesn’t mean we aren’t siblings, the term siblings is defined not by genetics but how much you’ve been through and how you would do anything to protect them. The photograph was taken at a hiking trail in San Marcos with my Nikon D5000. I love this picture because it was unexpected, I didn’t tell my brother to pose I simply just saw him staring off in the distance with the colorful trees in the background and decided to take a quick pic that turned out rather good. I would describe myself as being a natural artist because I don’t like using Photoshop, I prefer to use the natural photo. So far this year has been filled with learning how to Photoshop and improve the quality of my pictures. I’m looking forward to learning how to use natural light to my advantage.

Morgan Kaze, Class of 2017, Encinitas Beauty
My picture is a non-edited image of the flowers at the Encinitas Library. I titled this image Encinitas Beauty because this image shows the beauty of the flowers at the Encinitas Library as well as some of the blue sky in the background. I did no editing to this image, other than using the portrait capability on my iPhone 7 plus. I really like this picture because of the vibrancy of the colors of the flowers as well as the green of the branches. I think these qualities together, along with the shallow depth of field, make this a successful photograph. The way in which I would describe myself as an artist is more of a natural artist. I don’t like to edit photos too much, unless it’s just to enhance the natural beauty of something, because I like to appreciate things as they are versus wanting to make it something it’s not. These are things that I have learned this year along with how to properly compose an image to make it more interesting and eye-catching. I look forward to learning how to really take better images and how to present them in such a way that the viewer enjoys the images more.

Connar Kellogg, Class of 2018, Southside O-side
I titled this photo “Southside O-side” because I took it on the south side of the Oceanside pier. In the photo, you can see a vivid sunset with the Oceanside pier and Lifeguard tower #1. To edit this photo, first I began by boosting the saturation and brightness. Then I opened the picture in Photoshop to crop out pedestrians that happened to be in the frame.
I like this photo because it captures the beauty and vibrance of an Oceanside sunset. The colors in this photo contrast with one another. The orange color of the sky is a compliment to the blue color of the ocean. I see myself as an artist because I am able to capture an emotion from taking a picture. I use certain perspectives to show a new way of looking at objects or to capture an experience that other people have not had. All photos are unique and tell their own story of a situation. This year I have learned how to manually adjust the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO of a camera to gain the best results in a photo. I am looking forward to learning more about Photoshop and editing pictures.

Katie Knapp, Class of 2017, Geometric Flower
My photograph is titled Geometric Flower. I titled my photograph geometric flower because of the intriguing geometric pattern of the succulent. The birds-eye view also causes the succulent to resemble a flower. The photo is of a light purple succulent growing among woodchips in a garden. I took the photo of the succulent while walking in my neighborhood. I was drawn by the interesting pattern of the plant and the contrast of color between the brown woodchips and the purple succulent. For these reasons, I believe the image to be successful. To make the photograph, I simply took the shot and edited it in iPhoto. I adjusted the saturation and color of the image to make all of the interesting colors stand out. As a photographer, I love to photograph nature and natural elements. I enjoy capturing the simple beauty that Mother Nature has to offer. So far in the school year, I have learned a lot about aperture and shutter speed and the effects they have on a photo. This has been very helpful to keep in mind when taking photographs to capture the perfect image.

Tori Leavitt, Class of 2017, Cliché
I titled my picture cliché because I know that many people take sunset photos. I took this photo from the pier on December 5th 2016 as the sun was setting. I really didn’t edit the photo at all. The colors of the sunset were just a nice pastel calm array of pinks and blues. I like this photo because I think the angle that I took the picture from gave me the chance to get a great shot of the beach and the water and sunset all at the same time. The colors of the photo blend so nicely so all the elements blend together but also are beautiful in their own way.
I would describe myself as an artist who tries to create beauty with my photos, but also tries to capture interesting shots that show variety. I like taking photos that are crisp and clean but obviously have a subject that calls to the viewer. My favorite photos are photos taken of a water fountain at school with a cigarette carton inside, a basketball hoop with crows on top eating a Cheeto, and a photo I took of plants at school that look like a jungle.
This year I've learned the most about how to angle photos and how to frame photos. I learned that angles can make a photo seem ordinary or one of a kind. Framing allows the photographer to be precise with what is in the photo and what exactly is captured in the photo. I’m looking forward to learning more about abstract photos and obscure photographic styles.

Jovanni Lozano, Class of 2018, Tired Day
My picture is an HDR photograph of a tire swinging from a tree at the duck pond. I titled it “Tired Day” because while viewing the image you can tell it was a calm and peaceful day at the pond, I threw in the word tired because there is a tire swinging from the tree and there is a mellow feel to the photo, which makes me think of the word tired. To make this HDR photo I took the picture 5 different times with different exposures from -1.0 to +1.0 in sections of .5. After that I opened the picture as an HDR in Photoshop and changed the brightness and contrast until I felt it was just right. I enjoy the photo I created because I never imagined creating a photo like the one I did. Another thing I like about is that it’s a different type of photo, before creating my HDR I don’t think I’ve ever seen or at last recognized any other HDR photo.
I believe my art has gotten better because I feel that I view art differently now from my experience in photography class. Photography class changed my viewpoint on art because now that I’m interested I look more into my art and I try harder to improve the look upon my art. This year I’ve learned a lot more about art than I knew before. One thing I learned this year is that once simple photo can have very much meaning into it. I say this because while taking some of the photos we were assigned to take I’ve found many different cool details that wouldn’t be noticed if you’re not taking a in depth look into the photo. I’m not looking forward to learning anything specific but overall I want to learn more about photography, like ways to create a better photo, or more ways to editing photos that will make a photo look slightly better.

Hanna Lykens, Class of 2017,Forever Bright with Light
This picture is called Forever Bright with Light because this picture is of strength. The girl's name is Rayanna King. She is a strong, bold, and passionate individual and I am proud to call her my friend. This picture is of the detail in Ray’s fingers and how they curve around the guitar. This picture is pure as the camera took it the day of the photo shoot, put plainly this picture does not have any editing done to it which is part of its charm. I like this photograph because it's not a typical photograph and using the lights is my signature for my photographs. This picture was so successful because it didn't focus on the person; rather it focuses on the guitar and the light coming out of it.
I would describe myself as an artist as someone who uses soft colors and someone who uses the shadows vs. light and incorporate it into my pictures. This year I have learned basically how to use a camera but also the speed and the light let into a camera is important. Also I learned that asking for opinions is a good thing because with assistance it can always be a good thing. This year I learned about different angles and how they can make a difference because if you take multiple shots of one thing at different angles you can do so many things with each picture. I'm looking forward to learning about food photography because of the bright colors and the things you can add to the food that make it look more glossy.

Thomas Lynch, Class of 2017, Another World
My picture is an HDR photograph of a river at the duck pond. I titled it “Another World” because the HDR effect gave a different view of the world from what it actually is. To make this picture, I took 5 pictures with different exposures ranging from 1 to -1 in sections of .5. After taking the photos, I then merged them to HDR Pro in Photoshop and changed the brightness and contrast to my liking. To put the finishing touches, I then used the lasso tool to select certain areas and used color balance to change the color of certain areas in the image to give it more life. I like this photograph, because it shows how a person can change a setting to their liking. I think this is a successful photograph, because it gives off the vibe of being in the wilderness and another world due to river being deep blue. As an artist, I would describe myself as a creative person that thinks outside the box. As the year has progressed, I have learned how to edit and make better pictures. I am looking forward to what else I will be making in the future.

Samantha Maddox, Class of 2018, Periwinkle
My photo is just a random photo I took of some beautiful purple flowers I found outside our class because they just looked like they would look very nice in a photo. I love the bright vibrant periwinkle color that really makes them stand out. I didn’t do any editing to the photo so I can keep it as natural and beautiful as possible. I haven’t used this photo for a project yet so I thought that the Mid-Year gallery would be perfect to show it off with how well it’s focused on the flowers and not the rest of the background.

Irma Martin, Class of 2017, Variety
Estrella Martinez, Class of 2018, Gift From God
My photograph is named Gift From God because my sister was a surprise to my family in a time calling for unity. In a way she has brought my family closer together and has showed us that even the least expecting things in life can be very special. This is a picture of my younger sister in the cool November weather. This is a natural, non-manipulated picture. I like this picture because it’s in the natural light and my sister looks unbearably cute, like her shirt says. My type of art is more on the nature/people side. I enjoy seeing the smiles on people’s faces so I really like taking pictures of people when they’re in a good mood. So far, this year I’ve learned how to work Photoshop, make HDR photos, and create different type of photos without using a camera, such as the Cyanotype and Daguerreotype pictures. I’m really excited to learn food photography.

Letty Martinez, 2017, Coming Together
I titled this photograph coming together because this photo was taken at the Woman’s March on January 21,2017. This is the day millions and millions of people from different backgrounds and all around the world came together to support woman around the world. This picture is of people holding up posters to let everyone know that we are taking a stand against everything Trump has said regarding woman. I took this photograph on my iPhone7 and I used an app called VSCO and used the filter A5 and turned up the sharpen tool to 7.6. I really like this photograph because it shows an important part of events that are happening right now.

Michaela Martinez, Class of 2017, Rain
I titled my photograph Rain because the picture is very simply a picture of Rancho on a rainy day. I wanted to keep the name simple, just as the picture. This is a picture of part of a tree at Rancho in the rain. To make the picture I just did a simple edit and put on a black and white effect and adjusted it to the tone I wanted. I like the picture because of the simplicity and the raindrops that look like beads on the bare tree. I also like how the still beads look with the more blurred rain falling off the roof. I would say that as an artist I notice and look for the little things. I like very simple things that pay attention to more detail. Later in the year I look forward to learn about portraits.

Xochitl Martinez, Class of 2018, Sunny and Rainy Day
I chose this tittle for my photograph because the day I was taking this picture, the sun was out after a week or so of the rain and the rainy clouds started to take over the blue sky. I saw how the dark clouds started to cover the blue sky, which I found really cool in my opinion. I used a Nikon DSLR camera to take this picture while I was doing another project for Mrs. Moncure’s class. I was by one of the entrances by the football field when I took this picture. I like the photograph because it shows how our weather has been lately in California since we always have sun. I would describe myself as usual nature artist. I love taking pictures of the sky and see how the clouds are formed it catches my attention. I look forward to expand my experience for photography by learning new techniques.

Lorena Mateo, Class of 2018, The Bench
I titled this photograph “The Bench” because the way I took the photo- it seems that the bench is the center of attention, that it’s a special bench. This bench seems like it would be the bench your grandparents would say, that’s where they met or had their first date. It’s a picture of a bench on the trails by the duck pond. What I did to create this image was, I first took five photos of the image with different exposure levels. Starting from -1.0, -5, 0, .5, and 1.0. Next thing I did was opened up Photoshop and selected “merge to HDR pro” so that I could combine all five images and make it into one HDR photo. Once in the HDR pro, once I have combined the photos together, I clicked on the selection “Remove Ghosts” which removed all motion blur that was captured in the photos. I then chose to make the photo more saturated by clicking the selection “More Saturated”, but then I would go and adjust the saturation if I wasn’t satisfied with the final look. I like this photo because it made the bench brighter in color, the scenery in the background became more vibrant and it stands out more. The reason I think this is a successful photograph is because I liked the way the final image came out and the colors are very vibrant and the image stands out. What I learned so far this year is that when you’re taking pictures, it’s fun and you have fun doing it.
Ashley Maturino
Jordan A. McDonald, class of 2018, The Edge of Glory
I titled this photo on “The Edge of Glory” because the girl in my photo is riding the edge of the pool. This picture captures the action and intensity of the skater. This is a picture of a girl skating in a pool and is grinding the lip. I used Photoshop to make the image black and white. I like this photo because I got to go to the skate parks and take a picture of a girl skater and usually it is rare to see so I took the opportunity so capture her skills in action. I believe this is a successful photograph because it’s cool and edgy and to me I believe it is pretty rare. As an artist I would describe myself as action photographer because I like to capture things in motion. I also have a good eye in finding good angles to shoot a photo. This year I have learned the basics in controlling a camera and its settings to take different types of pictures. I also learned how to edit photos on Photoshop and create cool pictures like HDR photos etc. I am looking forward to learning more complex setting on the camera to take higher quality photos and gaining more knowledge about the different ways Photoshop can help me edit my photos to make them look more professional.

Chris McIver, Class of 2017, Thank A Veteran
My photograph is an image of two men at the Oceanside Pier sitting on a bench during sunset. The sign the man with the guitar put up on the bench, which read “Thank A Veteran For Your Freedom Today,” inspired the title. I took this photo when I went to Oceanside to photograph for a class project. While I was photographing the coastline from the pier, I listened to the man playing guitar on the bench, and asked him if he was comfortable with me photographing him. I didn’t do any editing or retouching on this photograph; I felt that it would be more appropriate to display a genuine version of the photograph to serve as a realistic representation of the men and the pier at sunset. I personally love this image because of its authenticity. The expression on the man’s face is very genuine and happy, and it is complemented by the warm lighting that is cast during sunset. Over the past six months, I have grown significantly as an artist. I have learned a lot about the technical side of photography, which has allowed me to capture photographs properly. These new skills, along with studying other photographers, have also given me inspiration for new endeavors in photography as I try to experiment with different settings and subjects. I look forward to learning more about professional photographers and their own personal habits that allow them to take such amazing photographs.

Francisco Melchor, Class of 2018, Bros
My picture is of me and the homies taking a picture. I titles it “Bros” because we are all good friends and we’re chilling out taking a picture for the gram. To make this picture I got the raw photo from iPhoto dragging it in to Photoshop, moved the brightness and contrast making it brighter to see us on the screen. After that I played around with the shadows and highlights to make it look our faces more defined. I really like it because it’s really focused on just us, it is a successful photograph because it has great detail on the little things. I would say I am a pretty average artist I’m not the greatest but I am also not the worst. I have really learned a lot about cameras and how to take the best pictures. I am looking forward to learning a lot more about Photoshop.

Itzel Molano, Class of 2017, Back in Depression
My picture is a photograph that emulates the style of Dorothea Lange, a woman who was a documentary photographer during the Depression. I tried to showcase the hardship that a single women with kids deals with. I titled it Back In Depression because you could see in the women’s face her frustrations and sadness she is going through to pay bills or make sure her kids will be able to have the next meal. To make this picture, I took it six times in order to get the right exposure and the right angles in order to make the model look so sad and worried. I would say that my artistry has gotten better through this year because seeing my pictures from back then to now I could say it’s gotten a bit better.

Carlos Morales, Class of 2017, Under the Lights
Friday nights were game nights, the feeling you get on the field before the game when the crowd is cheering, your heart is pumping, sweat dripping down your face from warm-ups, your in the spotlight ready to lay out what you’ve been preparing for all week; under the lights. I took this photo with my phone because I was injured and desperately wanted to play, but instead decided to take photos of my teammates. I think the photo is great because even though the player’s backs are towards us there is so much emotion. Anyone who has ever played sports or even performed in front of a big crowd knows the jittery feeling along with excitement before the test. I just joined the class, but I’ve learned a lot about how to program a camera and use Photoshop. I believe photographs speak in more ways than one and in more than just visual sense.

Bly Moser, Class of 2018, Universe in a Bottle
I chose this picture for the mid-year gallery because I thought it was really cool. In the picture it just looks like swirling lights but it is much more than that, I put my iPhone up to a wine bottle that had tiny lights in it, the neck of the bottle reflected the lights from the lights giving it a swirling look to it. This picture looks like the universe, the lights being the stars and the swirling effect being the rest of the universe and its unknown. What this picture means to me is that some of life’s simplest things can hold the universe and that there are no boundaries to what we can do and achieve. I would describe myself as a spontaneous artist/photographer. I have learned many things about photography and how to properly use a camera but most importantly I have learned to express myself through photography and art, you can be who you want and do what you want with art and that’s something I appreciate and care for since being yourself is one of the most essential things in life.

Emma Moss, Class of 2019, Safety Zone
I named my picture “Safety Zone” because the bench symbolizes safety and security among the water. This picture is of a bench that is surrounded by a 6” deep puddle up to 5 feet in each direction. To make it I took the picture during a rainstorm to get the effect of water movement. Then in Photoshop I played around with color changes and different filters to get the effect I was looking for.
I think it is a successful photograph because its very clear, and the bench almost seems like light against all the dark water, like light vs. dark. I would describe myself as an artist showing the beauty in nature and humanity. Even though I have only been in this class for about 4 weeks, I have learned a lot. I never used photo shop before I was in this class and now I can. I also see the seriousness in the photos and how important this is to some people.

Simon Ortega, Class of 2017, Tangled
I titled this photo Tangled because the fallen trees are tangled up with each other and extend out almost looking like they are asking for help. This picture is of fallen trees tangled all together at the duck pond. I edited this photo on Photoshop CS6, we took five different exposed photos to make this HDR (High Dynamic Range) photo , and then we started to put them all together on photoshop and ended with this amazing photo.
I liked this photo because it’s shows nature being so close to us. I think it’s a successful photo because its shows me using things we learn in photography class and actually using them. I would say I am an artist because it’s another form for me to communicate out with people and try to inspire and show them meanings in photos. This year I have learned many things from photography and photographers that photograph. I am looking to learn a lot more these four months of school left and even more outside of high school.

Monica Padilla
Kimberly Palmer, Class of 2017, Harmony
I titled this photograph Harmony because I believe it represents the elements of Harmony and it also was a moment where I would have just stayed there forever. This is a picture of the sky in sunset motion at the top of my hill in my community.
I did no editing to it and I took the photo on an iPhone 5c on the app Snapchat. I really enjoy this photo because it is so calming to the eye with the purple of the sky but also vibrant with the orange from the sun. I think it is a successful photograph because the colors compliment each other. As an artist I like my photos to be perfect to my eye but I always try to do different styles. I’ve learned a lot this year with editing photos and how to work a camera. I’m looking forward to learning the unknown, to take in everything. I really enjoy this class. 10/10

Alexis Pedraza, Class of 2019, Baby Blue
I have titled this photograph “baby blue” because as you can see my friends eyes are the color blue and you can see the clearness in her eyes. This again is a photograph of my friend Mariah’s eyes. She was actually on her way back to class from the bathroom and told her if I could take a picture of her eyes because they looked super bright that day. It was nice and sunny out so the lighting was perfect. I edited this photo in Photoshop by putting the brightness up just a bit. I like this photo because her eyes look super blue and gives me an imagination of a waterfall for some reason. I think its successful because it is super clear and the eyes grab people's attention right away. I would describe myself as a thoughtful and curious artist because all my photos have a story to them that you won’t really catch onto unless I explain.

Brenda Pedraza, Class of 2017, Classical Day
My picture is a black and white photo of a vintage/classic car. I titled my picture “Classical Day” because it’s a classic car parked with the sun in the back on a normal day. It was taken in vista right in front of Panera and the transit center. I took this picture with my iPhone SE with no filters, except for the black and white one I put on in iPhoto.
I like this picture because I really like classical cars and also because I like how the sun came upon the car. It was a successful photograph because it came out completely in focus. I really like how the sun came out. I would say that I am an okay photographer I have most my pictures in focus with what is important in focus. I have learned how to keep my pictures with the main item in focus also the aperture, ISO, and shutter speed are important. I am looking forward to having more experience with taking awesome pictures.

Angel Pinales, Class of 2017, The Shadows of Progress
I named this picture the shadows of progress because it shows a car driving by but underneath it, it shows nature with the hiking trail. I also like this picture a lot because it was the first time I took a picture to create an HDR image conversion. I think the over saturation makes the picture look more alive especially with the white patches that contrast with the bridge. What I did to create this was take four images of the same thing with different apertures and insert all the pictures into Photoshop. From there I merged all the images and used an hdr converter program from Photoshop. Then I picked the more saturated effect to add some color to the picture. I think it’s a successful photograph because it was my first time doing this type of image and I feel like it came out great. I would describe myself as an abstract artist that tries to find areas that people wouldn’t take pictures of. I’m looking forward to learning new techniques in Photoshop.

Merrik Polivka, Class of 2018, Day in Arrowhead
I titled the photo Day in Arrowhead because I got to spend a day there with my Dad before we went to Big Bear the next morning. The picture is of all the snow on the trees outside by the resort. I didn’t use any filters or Photoshop on the picture. I used my Canon T6 with my 18-55mm lens shooting on Aperture f/16. I like this picture because it is different compared to everyone else who is doing sunsets. I think it is a successful photograph because it captures just how amazing Lake Arrowhead is. I would describe myself as an artist that likes to capture a moment and remember it forever. I have learned how to use a camera this year and everything about DSLR photography. I am looking forward to learning anything that will make me a better photographer.

Madi Prosser, Class of 2017, Coffee
I chose this picture for my midyear gallery because I think this picture really shows my true potential. This picture was taken the other day at school, while doing a Food Photography Project. I know coffee beans aren’t food, but coffee is a daily essential. I chose the title “coffee”, other than the obvious reason, because the quality is so clear, that you can see each individual coffee bean. I’m very proud of this picture because I think I did a very good job with the placement of the props and coffee itself.

Hailee Pryor, Class of 2018. Women’s March
I named this photo “Women’s March” because I took it at the women’s march in San Marcos on January 21, 2017. This is a picture of a couple I did not know and they did not know me. I saw the banners they made for the event and asked them if I could take a picture of them with their banners and they were both very happy to do it. I edited this photograph on my phone with an app called VSCO. I enjoy this photo because it took place at an event I think will be remembered for a long time and I like to think that this could be a picture to show generations to come. This year I discovered that I am the kind of artist that likes to involve warm colors because I think it makes pictures more aesthetically pleasing. I’m looking forward to the next half of the year to discover more of who I am as an artist.

Samantha Pryor, Class of 2017: Idealization of Nature
An ideal world would be a world full of happiness and love. I named this photograph Idealization of Nature because this picture captures the beauty of nature. In today’s day, people do not take into consideration how lucky we are to live in a world with such wonderful scenery. This is a photograph of the beautiful mountains and stream in Yosemite, California. I wanted to capture this breathtaking view through the camera and to do that I had to walk through the stream. I used my iPhone and used Adobe Photoshop to enhance the details within the photograph.
I love this picture because it has a serene vibe. I believe it could be successful because not everyone gets to experience this view around the world. I wouldn’t describe my artistry as anything very different. I really love to capture as many details I can because it represents the realness within the moment. I have learned a lot so far in this year of Photography. Before taking this class I didn’t even know how to work a camera or what it meant to genuinely get a great photograph. I have not only learned how use a camera (ISO, Shutter Speed, F Stops, etc.) but I have also learned how to capture a moment in a way that makes you feel like you can relive that memory.

Maritza Resendiz, Class of 2018, Sleeping Beauty
My picture is from my project (artist as mentor) Lindsay Adler based on replicating their pictures. In order for me to capture this picture I cad to buy flowers to get surrounding covered, although they weren’t the same flowers used in Lindsay’s picture I just tried to make anything work. I then applied the “make-up” (I used paint) on my little niece. It took me at least 30 minutes to get the perfect picture because she kept moving from the position I told her to stay put in. what I really like about the outcome of my photograph is just how good the lighting came out because the sunflowers look much brighter with light. My progress as a photographer and taking this class has been a bit better as the year goes by, my pictures are a lot more in focus of the main subject and can capture what I’m aiming for.

Luis Reyes, Class of 2017, At Ease With The Mind
I named this image this because of one reason, the water is still in the pond such as your mind is if you are completely relaxed & in peace with your self, otherwise the water (your mind) would be flowing recklessly and troubled. This is a picture of a small stream of water that runs through the duck pond. In order to come up with this image I had to take a series of five images with the EV ranging from -1 to +1 with intervals of .5 in between each image. In addition to the five images I had to have the camera on a tripod and did not move it at all, otherwise it would not have worked. Once I had the images I opened up the five images on photo shop using the HDR format. I selected the option to get rid of “ghost” in the image to make it really clear, as well as the “saturated” option to make the colors pop. I like this image because the stream is still and the colors are all similar and slightly dark, to me this image gives off a calm and relaxing mood. I believe this is a successful image because as well as having a great mood it also shows symmetry by having both sides of the stream looking relatively similar. I would describe my self as a serious photographer with lots to learn. My photography has really improved since the start of this school year & I have learned several new things that allow me to capture different moments and different moods well. I’m looking forward to learn as much as possible.

My photography has really improved since the start of this school year & I have learned several new things that allow me to capture different moments and different moods well. I’m looking forward to learn as much as possible.
Omar Rivera, Class of 2018, Illuminating Through The Dark
I have chosen to title my photograph “ illuminating through the dark” because it speaks for itself. In the center of the photograph the sun’s illusive light illuminates the whole image. As you can also see with the sun’s bright light it brings and pops the color of bright green in the leaves and shows the tree’s braches. This is a picture of a tree sitting in the shadows and in the background the sun’s lucid natural light breaks through the shadows.
I took this picture using our classroom cameras during second period. To make this photo possible I used iPhoto to enhance the photograph and make it brighter than it originally was. I like this photo because you don’t see as many pictures like these, buy overall I like the sun in the background bringing In light into the picture making it bright. I think this makes this photograph successful because it has value and color in it. I would describe my self as an outgoing, positive, and adventurous artist. I have learned how to take better photographs and how to use photo shop thanks to Mrs. Moncure. I am looking forward to learning how to become a better photographer and take awesome picture yet breathtaking .

Cristela Rodriguez, Class of 2017, Beautiful Rainy Day
I titled my photograph, Beautiful Rainy Day, because I took this when it was raining and it was really pretty outside. This picture is about just walking around our school campus and taking picture of the rain. My friend Kenia walked through the trees and I was behind her. When I saw her walking through the hall and how the trees where surrounding her in the rain. Immediately I thought it would be a good picture to take.
I like this photograph, because it show how beautiful the day was and how you are able to see the some raindrops falling. Also how the ground is wet and how it seems she is walking through a puddle. Another thing I like about this photograph is how the umbrella and her jacket are wet, really shows how the rain was dropping. I have grown as a photographer as the year has progressed. I feel like my photographers are better than when I started they are clearer and I try my best to capture what my eyes see.

Marcos Rodriguez, Class of 2017, Elements of Art
I named this photograph The Elements of Art since that was the assignment my partner and I were taking photographs of. The photograph is of a pole and I like it because it is at a special place to me, school. I think it’s successful because of the shadow behind it. I consider myself an artist sometimes when I take a good photograph.

Sarai Rodriguez, Class of 2017, Rosy
I titled this photograph Rosy because it is a rosy colored rose so it works easily with that name. The photograph is a rose that was fully opened at my apartment. I took this picture using my cellphone and just turned on the flash, I took it because all the other roses were closed and weren’t as bright. I liked this picture because even though it isn’t perfect you can still see the beauty in the rose. The overall focus is on the brightness and beauty of the rose.
As an artist I describe myself as a more neutral photographer because, I stay in my comfort zone instead of going out of my way to take a photograph. So far this year I have learned to stick with what I know and try my best to improve it. I am looking forward to learning more about night photography and on doing shadows.

Valerie Rodriguez, Cass of 2017, Serious Minded
I took a portrait of Jazmin Rubio. I titled my picture serious minded because she has a very serious face. When I first seen her I was scared to talk to her because of her serious face so I assumed her attitude was as serious as her face. I tried not to edit the photo too much because I enjoyed the natural light. What I was proud of in this photograph was that the main focus is on her face and the background is blurred out. As an artist I thought photography was easy and all I needed was a good camera and the picture would come out good. Well now that I am taking the class and also taking photographs I see there are different things that make up a good picture like where it’s taken, shutter speed, and lighting. There is more things that make a good picture but those are the main ones I learned. My pictures haven’t reached their full potential yet but I’m looking forward to try harder and take better pictures.

Jazmin Rubio, Class of 2018, Rain After
I titled my picture rain after because it was a rainy day and I took this when the rain was over and this was like the aftermath. My picture is of a bench that has a reflection from the puddle of water. To edit my picture I used iphoto to give it a brighter look. I also straightened it to have the symmetry and reflection look in proportion. The reason I like this photograph is because it is natural, shows a little pop of color and has the composition of symmetry. I think it is a successful photo because the first thing you will notice is the reflection and symmetry of the photo and how it had been rainy that day. What I have learned this year about photography is that it’s not just about taking a simple picture, you can make it a lot better by applying different techniques which will give you a better photo. What I’m looking forward to learning is how to edit my photos to make the color superior.

Jhason Salazar, Class of 2018, My Journey
My picture is a photograph I took on my phone during the time I was in my Photography class at the school Rancho Buena Vista High school. The reason why I decided to call it “My Journey” is because I feel like that picture was the start of me becoming a photographer. I decide to use the app Snap chat on my phone and added the filter black & white. The reason why I like the picture is the way that it came out and also the way the picture looks I also the picture came out successful because many of my friends gave me good feed back on the picture. I would describe myself as a decent photographer, I have learned so much in this class like learning how to use the camera for different type of pictures. I am looking forward to publishing my work out to the world.

Jennifer Ruiz-Salgado, Class of 2018, Happiness All Around
I titled this photo that because it’s a mother with her daughter looking at each other with smiling faces & they look like they are enjoying the moment together. It is a picture of a mother spending time with her daughter. What I did to make this photo is my mother, sisters & I went to the mall & it was a nice day outside. We were talking & laughing about random things. I used filters from my photo to make the colors pop out more. I like this photo because it is of my mother & sister. I just find it cute the way they are looking at each other. I think it’s a successful photograph because how the photo looks like. It came out clear, the colors pop, the way they are just doing something normal. I would describe myself as a fun but serious photographer. I have learned many things this year; how to Photoshop, the different types of angles, how to use different apertures, & the different types of lighting. I am looking forward to learning more things about how to take great pictures.

Dillon Sampson, Class of 2017, The General
The photo I chose for my Mid-Year Gallery was taken from my toy story project. It was taken in the softball fields near the wooden training course. The set up included placing the figure near a grassy terrain that looked like a jungle. I wanted to position it in a walking motion and contrast it to the wide bush to appear as jungle/forest. Then, getting on my knees to a floor level, I snapped the photo. I liked this photo because the perspective is unique and the storyline it creates gives off a sort of implied motion. There were no touch ups on this photo because I liked the gloomy under-tone. I chose the photo because it was a project that I felt had the most creative values and made something simple turn out like a movie scene. Overall, this year I have learned a lot in angles and lighting. I am better with camera settings and correct functions for specific photography situations.

Hugo Sanchez, Class of 2017, The Beauty of Nature
I named this photo The Beauty of Nature because this photo shows a lot of beautiful colors in nature. This is a picture of a hiking trail leading up a little mountain. To get this photo, I took five of the same picture but changed the exposure each time. When I had all five photos, I opened them in Photoshop and I merged them together using “merge to HDR pro.” I like this photo because the sky is dark and there is a hole with a bright light. I believe this is a successful photo because all these colors make nature look peaceful. As an artist, it takes me a while to get ideas but I’ve learned that instead of thinking about it too much, sometimes you just have to take the picture. I am looking forward to learning more about shutter speed.

Carlos Sandoval, Class of 2017, Urban Rust.
I titled my photograph this name because of the unique color of the image. The image looks like the metal object is rusty but the rust is a very unique color. The image is a picture of the rain gutters at RBV. They go alongside the railings of the school to get rid of the rain water. The first thing I did was to open the effect tab on Photoshop and play with the colors to make that unique rust color.
The second thing I did was make the picture more vibrant and colorful. I did this so the picture doesn’t look too plain and simple. I like this picture a lot because of the unique color and because of how clear the water looks. I think this picture is successful because everything in the beginning is so clear and the sun fades the end out. I would describe myself as a abstract artist because those type of styles are really interesting to me. I have learned how to manage the controls of the camera and use it properly and I also learned the different styles of photographs. I am looking forward to learning more about the types of cameras and quality.

Luis Santiago, Class of 2018, Mr. Green Leaf
I titled my picture Mr. Green Leaf because it is a picture of a green plant with a bunch of leafs. I did not do anything special with my picture, I just took it using a good camera. I like it because it is very focused and it looks like a pretty good picture to me. I would describe myself as an average artist and I have learned many things and I am looking forward to learn even more things.

Nadia Santiago, Class of 2017, Take Me By The Hand
I took this photo when I was doing the Artists project. The artists I choose like to take pictures of the open ocean with natural surroundings. My picture was taken in Oceanside, California at the Oceanside Beach Harbor. I titled it “Take Me By The Hand” because the setting fits perfect with it. Hand in hand walking the beach the couple looks peaceful. The surrounding is filled with harmony and elegance. I used my iPhone 6 Plus to capture this photo. This photo required very minimal change. I brightened it and added a little bit more contrast as well. I personally think it is a successful picture because I captured the sailboat in the background as well as that “perfect picture” couple walking on the beach, so I got two in one. I say this that because without the couple it would still look great and vice versa. I would describe myself more of a nature artist because nature is beautiful and I think I have an eye for it. I’m looking forward to learning more about ways to take photos, change them to make them look more elegant.

Tovin Schwartz, Class of 2017, Lonely Loner
I chose the name “Lonely Loner” because of the subject of the photo, the bold, free hummingbird. Hummingbirds rarely travel in large flocks and spend most of their life on their own. This picture signifies being independent, not worrying about what others think, and doing what makes one happy and free. If one focuses on his/her goals and excludes them selves from outside interference, one will be able to achieve his/her aspiration. This is a photo of a hummingbird on the top of a Chinese Blossom Tree during dusk. I created this photo in Photoshop by slightly increasing the brightness and contrast, to get more of a white and black feel to the photo. I like this photograph because of the subtleness and meaning. I think the photograph is successful because capturing Hummingbirds in still motion is usually hard to do, but I was able to do it after following the bird around for some time. I would describe myself as a unique artist who cares about producing quality artwork and photographs. This year I have drastically expanded my knowledge of the camera and computer world. I am looking forward to learning more about night and star photography.

Jairo Segovia, Class of 2018, Nostalgia
The reason I have titled my photograph “Nostalgia” is due to the location in which my photograph was taken. I always visit this specific spot with family and friends, any one I love in general, and it brings back so many good memories to me. This photograph was taken in Oceanside, CA by the beach houses, it’s a location I visit often. I didn’t do any specific editing to this photograph specifically at all. I was very committed to taking it though, as I woke up at 4 in the morning to capture a light/cool sunrise.
I took many photographs on this morning, but I really do love this one specifically due to its meaning to me. It’s a very beautiful photograph in my opinion, and I was very happy with my result. It’s a successful photograph because of the effort I put into it. I would say that

Madison Smith, Class of 2019, Beaches
My picture is named Beaches because it was just a typical 75degree day at the beach. It was taken at Carlsbad, State Beach along the fence in the parking lot. I really just used my regular camera on my phone. I like this photo because it shows detail of the scattered clouds and I love how the sun reflects off the water. Another thing I really admire about this photo is how you are able to see the surfers along the water spread out everywhere, and the birds running along the beach. If I were to describe myself as an artist I would have to say that I am focused, and I take the time to make sure that the photograph turns out the exact way I want it. So far in this class I’ve learned a whole new perspective of photography, like the way the camera works, what you need to get perfect lighting, the equipment you need, etc. all just to get that one photo. In the future I’m looking forward to learning more about not just photography in general but how the equipment works, and all of the elements you are able to use.

Stephanie Solorio, Class of 2017, Under the Rainbow
My picture is of a man playing soccer with his son. It had just stopped raining and a double rainbow had appeared. I chose the title “Under the Rainbow” because it was such a beautiful rainbow where you could see a heart warming moment of a father bonding with his son. I love this photo and I chose to photograph this moment because I love the idea of how no matter the weather, Soccer is such a beautiful sport that allows so many families and friends to connect and having an amazing time together.
In adobe photoshop, I added more saturation to the picture in order to make the rainbow stand out. I believe this is a successful photograph because I think it perfectly captures the bonding moment between a father and a son and also captures the beauty of soccer. I would describe myself as an artist in the sense that I have the ability to identify an important moment and capture it. I have learned the importance of the how lighting, angle, and background play a role in the purpose of a picture. I look forward to learning more about specific details in order to improve the quality of my photos.

Reilly Stafford, Class of 2017, Island of Paradise
The title of my picture is “Island of Paradise” because this was taken on Catalina Island. Catalina Island is a fun place and is a place to getaway. I took a picture of the clear water with boats and a mountain in the background to show everything that goes on there. The mountain is where all the buffalo live and the water is where all the fun happens with the many activities to do. To make this picture I just took it with my phone and tried to capture the right lighting in it. I played around with the colors to place emphasis on the color and give the idea of a hot, sunny day. I really like this picture because it is a memorable experience for me and reminds me of a time family got together. I think it’s a good travel beach photo and is an ideal picture of a place someone would vacation at. I would describe myself as an artist that likes to take beach pictures and capture the simplicity in it. This year, I’ve learned how to do Photoshop better and mess around with the colors. I’m looking forward to learning other aspects of Photoshop and more on food photography.

Jacob Tatenco, Class of 2017, Swamp Fever
My name is Jacob Tatenco and I’m class of 2017. The title of this piece is “Swamp Fever.” The reason for this name is because the day this picture was taken my mom would not stop talking about how she couldn’t wait to see the swamp, and I wasn’t to excited at first but the second I saw the swamp I got excited and it was like a fever, my whole family was excited to see the whole swamp. This is a picture of the swamp pure water and trees looming over our heads. For this picture I took it on my Ipod the swamp in New Orleans itself was special and a beautiful sight to see, the only slight changes I did were on Photoshop to increase the vibrancy of the nature that the Ipod could not pick up. The reason I like it is because when people think of swamps they think of humidity and disgusting and bugs and just mostly negative things, and the reason I like it as well as think its successful is because it shows the beauty of nature and the swamp. If I were to describe myself as a photographer is I’m an in the moment Photographer, I don’t plan or set anything up in my favorite photo’s, although I do set up and planned photos. I have learned so much this year its hard to put into words, I’ve learned how and when to time photos, how to keep an eye out for a picture, to search for moments and how to take photos the proper way. I’m anticipating to learn how to position and sculpt my pictures to fit the image I have in my mind.

I have learned so much this year its hard to put into words, I’ve learned how and when to time photos, how to keep an eye out for a picture, to search for moments and how to take photos the proper way. I’m anticipating to learn how to position and sculpt my pictures to fit the image I have in my mind.
Gregor Testerman Class of 2017, Anxious Landing
This photograph is one of those pictures that you are given the opportunity to take out of nowhere. It was 1st period in photography, and I was frustrated with trying to find elements and principles of art. As I was wallowing in my self-pity, I looked up and there was a hawk just chilling on the light post. Not only it was on the light post, but also the Hawk was being attack by other birds from the area. That is why I titled the photograph “Anxious Landing”, because the Hawk looked anxious when it was on the light post. When editing the photo I didn’t use Light Room or Photoshop. I just used iPhoto to adjust the setting to my likeness. I like this photo because it is one of those things that is hard to get a picture of and I got it. It is a successful photo because, the color contrast on the Hawk and the post go well together. I myself with art it is like a muscle. If I work it out my work is better, but if I don’t work it out my work is over par. This year I have learned so much about photography and how it can connect people. In the future I hope to learn about mandala photography because it has a certain kind of beauty that it shows and I want to make them.

Daniel Toscano, Class of 2017, Catching Air
I name this piece Catching Air because the kid is in the air so it looks pretty sick on just the way it turned out and I got it right when the flash went off. The picture is of a skater going out the bowl getting some air. I didn't do anything to this photo in Photoshop, I just left it how it was in camera except for that I cropped it a little to take a guy that was sitting on the background. I like this photo because is of skateboarding and also because I liked the way it turned out and how the picture looks. What is successful about this photo was the way it turned out- the light, the angle, the speed that I took it in. I would describe myself as an artist because I love taking photos and I'm passionate about it. What I learned so far this year is how to manipulate a camera and also how to take better photos. What I'm looking forward to learning is how to take better photos or just how to play around with the camera and memorize the buttons.

Mackenzie Tovar, Class of 2018, Unique
I decided to choose “Unique” as the name of my piece because you really don’t see these types of tires and rims just everywhere, they’re one of a kind. This photography shows a rim. What I did to edit this photography was first it was kind of all ready difficult to take the picture because it was down so low and I had to focus it too. What I did was I used one of my apps called ‘VSCO”, I went onto that app and I used many different things but one thing that I didn’t use was a filter. I messed with the brightness and contrast. Personally I like this photography because I like being around Lowriders because they are so unique, they have their own style that’s nothing like the rest, every car is different. I also really like this photography that I took because I felt like I got the right angle and you can see all the details. I would describe myself as a very unique artist just as in my title of this photo because not everyone knows or lives this lifestyle, so when I showcase some of my photos they’re amazed because they either don’t know about it or don’t see it everyday. So I feel as if I take photos that are very different from other people. I think that I have learned a lot this year, my photographs have improved a lot and I’m looking forward to learning more as the year goes on.

Eliel Valdez, Class of 2017, Without Music What is Life?
My picture is an HDR photograph of my drum set at my church that I play every other Sundays. I used brightness and contrast settings and I used a black and white filter. I liked it because it shows the musical side of me and how people can learn any instrument they want if they just try and put an effort into it. I would describe myself as an artist who looks for good pictures of music or instruments. I learned how to use Photoshop, how to change the aperture on a camera, how to use an expensive camera and how to use a computer better than I used too. I’m looking forward on how to learn more of photography like family photos, food photography, and nature photography.

Rey Valero, Class of 2017, Peace By The Sea
My picture is a photograph of a surfer and a lady who are enjoying the sound of crashing waves and the view of the sunset by the sea. I titled this work Peace By The Sea because it shows how peaceful it can be when you are by the sea and doing what you love to do. What I did to make this work the way it is, is that I used the ruler tool in photoshop to make the horizon as straight across the picture as possible. Also, I used the auto tone function so that the picture’s colors would pop out evenly. I like this photograph because I believe a lot of color is emitted from it and both people in it looking away from each other and minding their own business is a nice touch. I think it’s a successful photograph in that it’s taken from a very nice angle, and it has n linear striations. As an artist I would describe myself as one who likes to find places that emit a lot of color and emotion. What I’ve learned so far is how to use many functions in Photoshop like layering, exposure, and auto tune to make photos look better. I’m looking forward to learning how to make better photos that are sharper and taken from better angles.

Ruby Vargas, Class of 2018, Cotton Candy Sky
I titled my picture “Cotton candy sky” because of the colors that are blending in to make the sky a beautiful view. This is a picture of the sky taken on an early morning. I didn’t really do anything on photoshop or iphoto to it because it was taken on my phone but not my regular camera, I took it off snapchat. I like this picture because pink is my favorite color and to me the sky looked beautiful but other than that I’m a fanatic of sunsets. I think this picture is successful because you can see the color blend in together to make a beautiful sunrise. I feel like photography has really improved the way I take pictures. I’ve learned how to take a picture from the right angle and how the setting should look. I’m looking forward to learning more on how to photoshop images.

Morgan Wheeler, Class of 2017, After Alice Gao
Kaylee Whitman
Trey Wilcher, Class of 2017, #Bowman Strong
My picture is a picture I took of cups on the outside fence of RBV that said “BOWMAN #10”. I titled this #Bowmanstrong because that was the hash tag we used to help raise money for his family. Whenever someone would tweet or talk about what happened they used that hash tag to keep the faith. To make this picture I took 3 photos using different exposures. I did not have to change the lighting or brightness in Photoshop because I like the natural light and I don’t think it needed to be adjusted. I like this photo because it was a big part of my life this past year. Being an athletic trainer on the sideline as it happened it was something I will never forget. It was the scariest thing that I’ve ever seen and for a good friend to have that happen was heartbreaking. Going to the hospital to pray with the team and just wait to hear some good news. It was an experience I’ll never forget because it taught me a real valuable life lesson. Life can always change in a blink of an eye so take every opportunity with your best and always give it 100 percent because you never know when its your last. I would describe myself as a good upcoming artist with a unique taste in capturing sports moments. I have learned a lot this year and can’t wait to learn more.

Chris Yaman, Class of 2017, A View From Below
My picture is an HDR photo of a bridge although unlike many bridge photos taken, this view is directly below the bridge. This is why my photo is named A View From Below. The way I made this photo is I took 5 different shots on a tripod with different exposures, -1.0, -0.5, 0.0, 0.5, and 1.0. I then put each photo into Photoshop as an HDR and edited the photo to add more saturation. I honestly think that this photo is the best photo I have taken so far, it is symmetrical and it shows everything I want it to show. I think I have progressed a lot this year as an artist. I learned a lot about compensation, depth of field, and I have a good eye for good pictures. I look forward to learning a lot more in this class like Photoshop, lighting, and other cool techniques.

Rodrigo Zamora, Eccentric
This photograph was taken on my iphone 7 plus I took this photo on a cold day when my friend Fernando who is shown in the picture decided to take pictures with led lights. The reason for that is we were listening to music when I remembered I had a set of led lights. Although for what ever reason we decided to bring them out and connect them. I guess our mentality was to picture our selves in some sort of concert which is really lame. As a result I took some cheeky photos and once looked over I realized how cool they turned out. For some reason the pictures had some really interesting textures and where out of the ordinary. However in my opinion and my friends we found them very amusing and decided to keep them.
