The Despair of Poor Johnson
By Stephanie Rodriguez, Class of 2015
Johnson loved his girlfriend very much and was planning the day he would propose to her. He had a whole itinerary planned out- to spend the day with her at her favorite places, the beach, double peak, and to end with a movie. They had spent the past two years together and were madly in love! When the day finally came to propose, he prepared for everything he had planned to surprise Lucy but that all changed. When he got to her house to pick her up, she was walking across the street with a huge smile on her face that warmed his heart when a black Toyota 4 Runner sped through the street and ran her over. She passed away that same day.

It broke his heart and changed him forever but he knew that Lucy would want him to continue living life even though he knew it would be the hardest thing he would ever do. He sat on the steps and just cried because he didn’t know what else to do.
Soon after he began to get angry at the person who hit her and why she had to leave this earth so early, so he went back to his house and saw the table he set up in the backyard for their date that night. It felt like she died all over again. He sat at that table and started drinking. He knew in his heart he shouldn't, but nothing else felt right. He stayed home that entire day and all he thought about was all the good times he had with Lucy before that horrible day. They spent so much time together and he couldn't imagine what it would be like without her being around. He was scared to continue living but he knew he had to try his hardest to get through this.
A couple years later he found another girl that he loved, but never forgot about Lucy since she was the first girl he really loved. Lucy was sad, but she knew it was good for him and that she would always be with him.
