We are going to work together to find photos on the web of fast and slow shutter speed photos.
The left side of the room will do fast shutter speed photos, the right hand side will do slow shutter speed photos. You cannot use the same photo as someone else! Google fast shutter (or slow) shutter speed photos. Once you find one you like, copy and paste that photo onto Padlet (control + mouse click to right click + C) Under title, have your first and last name. Under description, have either the technical information that the artist wrote about in their website OR if there isn't information found, use your notes to describe what you think the artist did. Include a link to the website that you got the information from. You will be uploading your images onto your own Padlet as a new post titled “Shutter Speed Exercise.” To create a padlet: a. Go to padlet.com b. Sign up with Google- use your email address to sign up with, and have your password as your 8 digit birthday. c. Create a padlet by pressing "new padlet". d. Choose a "streaming" one d. Go to the wagon wheel on the right hand side of the background area and press "modify this padlet" e. Title the padlet your first and last name and Shutter Speed f. Have the description be Shutter Speed h. Start uploading your photos onto your padlet by double clicking on the grey area. Add your padlet address to the class padlet which is according to your period number. Have the title be your name and shutter speed. For your Padlet- Have your best photo of the 1/3, 1/30, 1/60th, 1/250 and 1/750 (or 1/800) on there, making sure your main subject is in focus. You can find the information about each photograph in "info" in the Photos application. Do not use photos with you in them, they should be the ones that you took! In each photo's title you will be stating what the shutter speed, aperture and ISO is (and writing out aperture f/22, shutter speed 1/30th of a second, ISO 200 etc- NOT 1/3, f/22, 200). Under description write out what you see in the photograph. Attach the photograph to the post. Make sure you are keeping the photos in order from slowest to fastest. Answer the following questions as a separate post on the Padlet using complete sentences in 2-3 paragraphs:
Link your padlet address to your period number's master Padlet for us to link to your page. To get your page's web address, go to "Share" on the top right of your padlet and press Share/Export/Embed. Go to Embed this web address. Copy your web address that's underneath the words- Paste the padlet URL in the class post under your name as a web attachment and the padlet will be embedded automatically. You will be adding your padlet address to the master list as indicated below for grading purposes. Title will be your first and last name, description will be "Shutter speed exercise." Shutter Speed Period 1 Shutter Speed Period 2 Shutter Speed Period 4 Shutter Speed Period 5 Shutter Speed Period 6 Graded based on: Time on Task, Teamwork, Citizenship: 5 points Photos accurately portrayed, one per speed, in focus: 5 points Padlet done correctly, all images requested with fast and slow shutter speed web images: 5 points Writing about shutter speed, using complete sentences, accurately explaining it: 5 points Two other photos from the web included with write up: 5 points I really like these videos because they're short, to the point, and graphically appealing.
Please note there is some variation between what I taught and what is presented, particularly in the principles part. It doesn't mean that either one is better or worse, but I find these videos are more geared towards graphic design and typography. Double click the background of the Padlet to add your photograph. This icon will come up- Press "Title" and put your first and last name Press "Write something" and put your description of your photograph- what it is and why you specifically like it. Then press the + button to upload your image- you will get this icon. Press the "upload" button to choose an image from the computer. You'll get a screen that looks like this- Choose a file from your computer or your cell phone and press "choose." From there you'll get a preview box- press OK once the image looks good. Make sure the image is a JPEG image otherwise you won't be able to see it on Padlet. Do not exit out until you are SURE your image is viewable and your full name is on the post in the right period number.
